01 --HELLO!
HELLO!
I'm Luke Cullen, a Computer Science Major at the University of Central Florida, minoring in Data Science. I'm currently a Techranger at the UCF Center for Distributed Learning, as well as a formner Hackathon Organizer for UCF's premier SWE club, Knight Hacks.
Professionally, my primary goal is to end up somewhere where I can make a difference in the world. I love the problem-solving tools that my career as a Software Engineer provides me with, and I’m always looking for more ways to use them. I hope that my current experience and projects help convey that this is where my passion lies.

EXPERIENCE

UCF CDL
Techranger
Currently developing web software as a part of the Center for Distributed Learning, a team inside UCF which develops open-source educational software used by 100+ institutions and tens of thousands of students worldwide.
- Contributed to major updates for our gamified learning platform, Materia, making sweeping responsive design changes in React, and upgrading developer tools to support a full Python rewrite.
- Took over development of a new dashboard for user-generated content in Materia, focusing on interaction design, UI/UX implementation, and detailed meta-data searching.
- Working with various faculty members and designers to fully rewrite multiple Materia activities in JavaScript, improving student accessibility and adding pedagogical value.
- Deployed a major update to an LTI tool for quiz accessibility requests on AWS EC2 servers, writing new Docker configurations and upgrading it to support the newer, more secure LTI 1.3 standard.

Learn MoreRESTORY
Front-end Lead
Utilizes wearable technology, machine learning, and LLMs to serve as an effective memory aid for Alzheimers patients. The wearable scans the users surroundings and isolates face/voice pairings per person, storing their conversations and personal history in a convenient web-app on the user's phone. The app will then recall a particular person's background to the user the next time it recognizes their face.
